Successful Supervision for Local Road Supervisors
About the Course:
The goal of this class is to help the new supervisor develop the necessary skills that will enable them to more effectively and confidently function in a supervisory capacity.

-Planning and Delegating
-Performance Management
-Developing a Personal Action Plan
Who Should Attend:
This program is intended primarily for local public works employees who recently have been promoted to supervisory positions, or employees who potentially could be promoted to supervisor in the future. More experienced supervisors who have never had any formal supervisory training may also benefit from this training.

Roger Shields
General Roger Shields spent 39 years in the military ending his career as a Major General. During his career he held many leadership position including commanding at all levels including Artillery Battery command, the Mississippi Military Academy,, the 1/114 Field Artillery Battalion, and three General Officer commands including the 155 Separate Armor Brigade and the the 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command (Theater Logistics Command). After retirement, he served as an Army Senior Mentor helping to prepare logistics commands for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan, and also for emergency homeland defense missions.l
General Shields received his commission by attending the Infantry Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Fort Benning, GA. Later in his career he was inducted in the Infantry OCS Hall of Fame. He is a graduate of many military schools to include The Army War College.

Professional Development Hours (PDHs):
Professional Development Hour (PDH) credit will be awarded as follows: six (6) PDHs for RS#8A. The Louisiana Transportation Research Center (LTRC) is a Louisiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, approved Sponsor/Provider of Continuing Professional Development.
