Pavement Preservation for Dummies (and Geniuses)
December 13, 2024 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (CST)
Presenter:
Chris Sunde, CEO of Good Roads
Chris Sunde is the founder and CEO of GoodRoads, a technology-based asset management company based in Charlotte, NC. Chris has 15 years of experience in Public Works, including roles as a Civil Engineer, Transportation Engineer, Deputy City Engineer, and Asset Management Professional. Chris earned a BS in Civil Engineering from NC State University and an MBA from UC Riverside.
Summary: Pavement and asset management involves one of the largest budget items in a City. In a way, it’s very similar to a person’s health. As a Public Works leader, it can take up all of your time and attention. Or it can be completely ignored (for a while). But our goal should be to strike a healthy and sustainable balance of attention, resources and control over our agency’s assets. This presentation is a how-to on doing that - what to do and what not to do, what matters and what doesn’t. Attendees will leave with a game plan for dummies and pro tips for geniuses on managing an agency’s roads and other assets.
Key Learning Objectives:
1) Understand the basics of pavement and asset management
2) Develop a framework for building a pavement/asset management plan for your agency
3) Learn the critical steps to implementing a new pavement/asset management plan.
