Survey Lite Using Mobile LiDAR and Panorama Videography: Preparing Accurate Strip Maps for AutoCAD, DGN, and ESRI

Presenter: Wilfred Barry, SJB Group, LLC

April 16, 2021
10:00 -11:00 A.M. (CST)
1 PDH

The SJB Group will demonstrate a surveying application using Mobile LiDAR and panorama videography with GPS observations in State Plane Coordinates. The end product is an array of strip maps of highway or/or utility rights-of-way surface features. These features are then digitized and drawn in 3D and can be provided in AutoCAD, DGN, or ESRI shape files.  SJB Group calls this Survey Lite and costs a fraction of full blown conventional surveying.  The accuracies are good for preliminary concepts and designs.  Full surveying can then be concentrated on areas that need it, not the whole highway/utility corridor.

Louisiana DOTD’s Specification for Internally
Cured Concrete: The Key to 100-Year Service Life?

Presenter: Jeff Speck, FACI, Arcosa Lightweight

May 21, 2021
10:00 -11:00 A.M. (CST)
1 PDH

Internal curing using presoaked lightweight fine aggregate reduces concrete shrinkage and related cracking, extending the service life of structures built with Internally Cured Concrete (ICC). Lafayette Consolidated Government has led implementation of ICC in Louisiana with the help of the Louisiana Transportation Research Center (LTRC). LA DOTD has drafted a new specification for ICC for use in the state’s transportation structures to maximize the return on its infrastructure investments. Arcosa Lightweight, in support by the Concrete and Aggregates Association of Louisiana (CAAL), will present the science behind ICC, review the draft DOTD specification and provide examples of the use of ICC in Louisiana and throughout the U.S.
