National Highway Institute (NHI) Course No. 130053 - Bridge Inspection Refresher Training (January 21-23, 2025)
NHI Course This course was updated in 2022 and is based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual (BIRM - 2022 NBIS Version), National Bridge Inspection Standards (2022 NBIS), and the FHWA Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI). Knowledge and understanding of the SNBI are highly recommended for individuals taking. This course provides refresher training on safety inspection of in-service highway bridges. The completion of this course fulfills the training requirements of the NBIS (23 CFR 650.309) for a cumulative total of 18 hours of FHWA-approved bridge inspection refresher training over each 60-month period. The course has undergone significant improvements in format and content including curriculum on the application of the SNBI and AASHTO element level condition ratings, and updated activities that maximize participant engagement throughout the course. |
National Highway Institute (NHI) Course No. 380120 - Introducing Human Factors in Roadway Design and Operations (January 22-23, 2025)
NHI Course This 2 day course is to help attendees gain an understanding of the Human Factors Guidelines (HFG) and how to apply them in making road system design and operational decisions. This course will provide an overview of human factors as they relate to the roadway environment. The course will describe why it is necessary to incorporate human factors in the design and operation of roadways as a complement to existing standards and manuals for roadway design and operation. Finally, the course offers a review of specific guidelines, as well as scenario-based case studies that allow attendees to apply the HFG to real roadway situations. |
